If I had to guess, and for some reason and am compelled to do so, I would say that the problem lies in the fact that you, now you better sit down for this, installed Linux CORRECTLY. I realize that for this obvious lack of good judgement on your part you will be flamed to no end. TAKE HEART. It's not too late.. You can still mess things up, and regain your good name, by doing any number of simple things. Deleting /etc/getty is a good way to start. If you want to get creative you could even delete ALL user accounts and set the shell that Root uses to something that doesn't exist. In any event.. It's not too late... Good luck and may the force be with you... -dave :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dave Rensin rensin@eng.umd.edu College Of Engineering, University of Maryland (will hack Perl code for food) :) (Sarcasm is free....) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
